for some time I had a strange problem; I could load sites from http://localhost in MSIE, but whenever I tried FireFox, it asked me for an user name and password. I’ve tried it all but I couldn’t authenticate.
If you happen to have the same problem, here’s a quick and simple workaround:
- In Firefox type about:config in the addressbar
- Find the preference named network.automatic-ntlm-auth.trusted-uris
- Doubleclick and type localhost
- Enter and you’re done
The above solution did not work for me as it had something got to do with proxy in my case.
The following worked for me:
Set proxy settings to automatic in firefox. Options>Advanced>Network> Settings>Auto detect proxy settings.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! This worked for me tonight.
Thank you very much indeed.
None of the above fixed it for me.
I had to change “Tell sites that I do not want to be tracked” to “Do not tell sites anything about my tracking preferences” and it was fixed immediately. What an odd fix.
It had been bugging me for a while, and I can\’t believe how easy it is to actually fix it.]]>
