Fixing the localhost authentication problem in FireFox
Category:
for some time I had a strange problem; I could load sites from http://localhost in MSIE, but whenever I tried FireFox, it asked me for an user name and password. I've tried it all but I couldn't authenticate.
If you happen to have the same problem, here's a quick and simple workaround:
  1. In Firefox type about:config in the addressbar
  2. Find the preference named network.automatic-ntlm-auth.trusted-uris
  3. Doubleclick and type localhost
  4. Enter and you're done

The above solution did not work for me as it had something got to do with proxy in my case. The following worked for me: Set proxy settings to automatic in firefox. Options>Advanced>Network> Settings>Auto detect proxy settings.

Thanks for this - its been troubling me for a while and I thought it was my setup rather than a quirk of netscape. Thanks again.

Thank you very much. I'm really stupid when test Report service SQL2008 in FireFox. I don't know where I configured wrong in the Reporting Service Configuration Manager - SQL2008. Configure step by step according to MSDN. Result is so that. Then, Install and Uninstall again and again. Checking Port in IIS, Firewall,...Result is so that. I lost a week to fix this problem. Today, I find your help and recognize that I'd never tried in IE. I load in IE successful. It's really stupid. Thank you very much!
